Customer objective and constraints:

Mr. Trevor Hopkins, Chief engineer of Hilton Hanoi Hotel said:
"We are satisfied with electric products and equipment provided by our supplier currently. Our concern
is how to control the electric bill and how to save 20% of power consumption within 5 years"

II. SOLUTION IMPLEMENTATION

Implementation methodology (main phases):

- Survey and Energy Audit
- Monitoring & Fix baseline of Energy Usage
- Data analysis & planned saving solution
- Implementation of saving solution
- Monitoring & control

Duration:

2008

Solution overview (services, products, systems, architectures...):

The solution provided includes:
- Power digital meters PM800 to measure and control the power quality of the installation - Hilton found out the faults on VT & CT equipment that led to losses for 6 years due to the wrong power consumption meter.

- Variable Speed Drives to manage the pumps and fans,
- A Power Logic System to manage the entire installation.

Solution overview (services, products, systems, architectures...):

How did we estimate the energy savings (methodology, tools, ...)

After using the Power Logic system for one month, Hilton realised that EVN, the Vietnamese utility, was sometimes supplying incoming voltage much higher than rated Voltage of SWB (22kV). Requested EVN, reduced voltage to improve Power Quality and extend equipment life.

III. RESULTS / ACHIEVEMENT

Customer benefits:

  • Improves the energy efficiency of the hotel:
Thanks to the Variable Speed Drives, Hilton saved 27% of energy for pumps by changing the speed of motor in line with the demand side.
As the fans are now running at 40Hz and no longer at 50Hz, Hilton was able to save 15% of energy.

  • Increases consumption visibility.

  • Measures and shows the impact of the energy efficiency investment.

Customer testimonies (Verbatim):
