Room control for lighting, temperature and blinds

            Value proposition

            Main drivers

            • Cost efficiency and flexibility are particular important for private and commercial buildings. This is where KNX comes into its own:
            • Cost efficiency is drastically improved thanks to the optimum combination of different controll levels: presence, brightness, time-dependency for lighting; presence, temperature settings, blind-control for heating and air-conditioning.
            • Flexibility is really improved compared to a traditional installation, adaptation of the building functions layout is very easy when rooms are used for different purposes after re-organisation or a move.
            • Automatic interaction of sensors and actuators avoids relying on uncertain human action and secures savings while providing increased comfort and safety. This enables substantial energy savings of up to 50% and more by automatically extinguishing load when it is not necessary.

            Solution in brief

            • KNX solutions from Schneider Electric offer one system, an international standard and many functions for building automation at small or medium sized buildings.
            • With KNX many seperate commands such as lighting, heating, blinds, air-conditioning, state- and consumption-monitoring are connected and form an intelligent system. KNX bus system unites under one roof functions which were previously controlled seperately. Just press a single button to activate all desired functions in one go: blinds are lowered, lighting is switched on and the room is heated to just the right temperature. All functions can be parameterised and extended constantly without damaging the buildings. With a KNX bus system all devices will be connected via a single bus line. This line will be installed in parallel with the 230 V circuit.
            • A KNX project initially will be created and implemented by a skilled electrician or planner/integrator, granting the inflow of user-friendly and cost-efficient functionality. In the following the inhabitant is enabled to configure user-relevant setpoints at multi-functional pushbuttons or graphical user-interfaces to the desired comfort and saving potential.

            Value proposition

            • The displayed solution architecture provides the following exemplary technical functions:
            • Lighting control - starts/dims el. lighting only at people's presence dependent on the current brightness
            • Heating control - adjusts the requested temperature and sets the heating or cooling into standby mode whenever a window is opened
            • Sunblind control - activates the sunblinds dependant on the current temperature

            Main Energy Efficiency characteristics

Installation effort and costs will be reduced in compare to a conventional installation at the same functionality
Consumption of energy will be reduced
Safety of persons and material assets will be increased
Decentral and central switching + indicating is possible
Information-interchange between different crafts reduces the installation
Automated alarms or emergency calls can be communicated
Remote monitoring or control can be effected
Technical extensions or changes can be realised easily
