Singapore Sustainability Academy
Schneider Electric helps to build a highly intelligent, responsive facility that maximizes operational efficiencies, energy conservation, and security while reducing risks.

The Challenge

• The Singapore Sustainability Academy is a joint project backed by the government involving public, private, and non-profit organisations.

• It will be the first-of-its-kind training and networking facility on sustainability in the country.

• There are initiatives aimed at driving awareness and action towards sustainability among those in the education and professional sectors.

• By 2030, the Singapore government has pledged to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 36% compared to 2005 levels. Specific to the building industry, 2030 is the target year for the Net Zero Agenda by the World Green Building Council and for Singapore to make 80 percent of it buildings green, based on the Building and Construction Authority (BCA)’s Green Building Masterplan.

Connected products: Smart Panel and Lighting Control System (KNX network technology)

• The Smart Panel measures and collects data about electrical supplies throughout the building, including power and energy metering, power supply and protection monitoring, allowing circuit and load controls.

• It aggregates and computes the electrical distribution data, allowing the user to view data from anywhere.

• The Lighting Control solution implements remote or manual controls to automatically manage different lighting scenarios.

• The KNX network technology allows switching and dimming configuration according to building and room occupancy.

The results

• Schneider Electric can guarantee up to a 10% decrease in energy usage as compared to a traditional installation for a similar-sized room.

• Occupants’ comfort and room ambience is improved, and unnecessary energy usage is eliminated by the lighting group control.

• Provides maximum flexibility with customised adjustments, making it user-friendly and cost-effective.

• SSA is a zero-energy building, and Schneider Electric will continue to ensure that the energy consumed by the building is lesser than the energy produced by the solar photovoltaic panels to maintain the building’s Green Mark Platinum status.
